The killers – Mr brightside
The narrative is that it is about a man falling in love with a girl who is already with someone who uses her as a whore and to break other men’s heart, which links to the lyrics.
The performance shows the sexual side to the song. It is a choreographed dance.
The characters show the whores as very seductive in their clothing and actions and that why are also back ground characters
The man who ‘playing a game’ shown by the chess board, is a confident and seems very cocky with his clothing and the way he is sitting and ordering the girls around. The band member seems to be singing and to show love for the girl. Who doesn’t seem to like what she’s doing. |
It is set in a bar/ whore house. This can portray the type of heart ache he is trying to portray in the song and the artist wants to show how women are made to do things that they may not want to do and are paid little which is shown by the apples.
Seemless editing to show the change in shot/ location or time.
Use of wide shots to show the atmosphere and what’s going on in the back ground
Use of close ups to show their reactions and facial expressions. Handheld to show the poor aspect of the filming and that it shows that it is move of a un defined and shaky manor. | |
All Time Low – Weightless
In this video there is no narrative as it is a performance-based video.
Shows the performance that they are playing a gig and shows the aspects of their understanding of the fans and band members.
The characters shown are the band member and stereotypical fans of rock/ Alterative bands.
At an underground small gig/ Backstage of a gig.
Animation is of the text showing up around, behind and in front of the people.
Seemless editing of the change in location/ time. Slow motion.
Wide shots of the band members and of the audience/ fans.
Close ups to show expressions. |
Imagine Dragons- Radio active
The narrative is from about a girl who has then gone to a shack, which contains an arena for ‘Toys’ to fight. The men around the arena are older men. Under the shack is a prison, which contains the band. The girl goes there to fight and try free the band.
The performance is of a few band members in the prison or back room, dancing, singing and hitting drums. There are a few close up shots of a guitar.
The casting consists of the girl who seems to be quite mysterious throughout the video.
The ringmaster has a cocky, evil like personality. And has control over all the games and the toys. The Crowd are all wealthy men who are wearing cowboy hats and seem to be very old fashioned and stereotypically gamblers. |
The mise-en- scene is the shack, prison and the area around the shack. These are to show the main areas shown in the video to create the scene and that it changes between these to create a slight variety.
The puppets are used in this video. There is also use on animation to show the teddy’s arm glowing to create the punch and it then shooting lasers from its eyes to the crowd disintegrating.
Seemless editing to show the change in location and the quicker edits to she the speed in action. A slow motion is used to show the teddy hit against the wall and some of the crowd are in slow motion.
There is use of many close ups of the toys, arena and the girls eyes. Medium close ups of the crowd, the ringmaster and the prisoners and some of the girl. Establishing shots of the arena and tracking shots of the girl and the band. Long shots of the band member singing.
