There is a clear narrative in this music video, the protagonist is actually the lead singer of the band who is playing the role of stressed male on his way to work who is experiences several annoyances that increase his stress levels making him act abnormally.
- The beginning of the music video shows the lead singer dressed in a shirt and tie – he’s in a traffic jam which his slowing down his journey to work thus making him stressed. This scene is made humorous as the cars have stickers on them such as ‘Justin Bieber’ that people find annoying.
- Fast cuts are used and the camera moves to slightly different position for each shot when he’s shouting to portray his anger.
- Ambient sound of traffic and police sirens are used to emphasise daily annoyances.
- The narrative is the first thing to be introduced- this music begins when he gets out the car in anger.
- A wide shot is used to shot the singer walking with city setting behind him – maybe his place of work is in the city and he’s walking away from it because it’s not what he wants to do - he carries a guitar which suggests an interest in music instead.
- Lyrics ‘I believe I’ve waited long enough’ fit with narrative.
- Tracking shots are used to show him walking – usually medium/long shots
- When chorus starts the singer starts attacking a shop keeper- action to go with fast paced music.
- singer mimes as he walks as though he’s singing but stops when he does something like go into a shop or try to work a phone box.
- Fade out/in to new scenes.
- The focus of the video is the humorous things this man does as a result of his stress such as running over someone with a golf buggy because they
- At the end of this video we see a typical convention of Rock music videos where we see the band themselves singing the song, however it’s not in a concert setting it looks more like a practice.
- When the music stops the narrative continues as the police enter to arrest the man who has caused several disruptions and assaults because of his stress.
